Former Carthage Nursing Home Employee Sentenced to 17 Years for Stealing From Residents

A Carthage woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for stealing more than $44,000 from the residents of the nursing home where she was working, and another seven years for the financial abuse of a Medicaid patient. 41-year-old Kristi Metcalf was sentenced Monday for receiving stolen property and abuse of a health care recipient. Prosecutors sat Metcalf was responsible for the residents accounts from 2010-2012 at the Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center. Her sentences will run concurrently. Metcalf has also been ordered to pay more than $44,000 in restitution to the residents, and $15,000 to the state for legal fees.
